Terms of Service

LEX ZED provides access to a library of Zambian judgments and legislation, search and research tools, an AI research assistant, study tools and a free public Legal Knowledge Hub. The service provides legal information and research assistance. It does not provide legal advice and does not create a lawyer–client relationship.

You must provide accurate registration details and keep your credentials confidential. You are responsible for activity under your account. Accounts are personal; do not share them. We may suspend an account used in breach of these terms.

The Legal Knowledge Hub and other public pages are free and require no account. Registered users receive a limited free allowance of full case views, AI legal opinions and study generations. Where offered, users may unlock additional free usage by viewing an advertisement. Free allowances are a courtesy and may be adjusted.

Paid plans are the Student plan at ZMW 100 per month and the Advocate plan at ZMW 150 per month. Subscriptions are billed for the period stated at checkout and give access to the features described on the pricing page for that period.

Payment may be made by Airtel Money, MTN Mobile Money or bank transfer. You must submit accurate payment references; access is activated once payment is confirmed. The Student plan requires verification of current student status, and we may withdraw the student rate where verification fails or is withdrawn. Fees are stated in Zambian Kwacha and are non-refundable except where required by law.

You agree not to:

• scrape, bulk-download or systematically copy the library or the site's content;
• resell, sublicense or redistribute access or content without written permission;
• attempt to circumvent usage limits, paywalls, authentication or security controls;
• upload unlawful material, malware, or material you have no right to submit;
• use the service to produce or disseminate content that misrepresents the law; or
• interfere with the operation of the service or with other users.

AI-generated output is produced automatically and may be incomplete or wrong. You must verify every authority and every statutory provision against the primary source before relying on it, and you remain solely responsible for any use you make of the output, including in professional or academic work. Judgments and legislation are public legal materials and are made available for research; where an official source document exists we link to it. The LEX ZED name, interface, editorial articles, summaries and compilations are our property or licensed to us, and may not be reproduced commercially without permission. Content you upload remains yours; you grant us a limited licence to process it in order to provide the features you have requested.

We aim for continuous availability but do not guarantee it. Features may change, and third-party services on which we depend may be interrupted. Scheduled and unscheduled downtime may occur.

To the fullest extent permitted by Zambian law, LEX ZED is not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, loss of opportunity, or loss arising from reliance on content or AI output. Our total liability in any twelve-month period is limited to the subscription fees you paid in that period. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

You may stop using the service and request deletion of your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for breach of these terms or where required by law.

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Zambia, and the Zambian courts have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.

We may update these terms and will revise the date above. Material changes will be notified in the application. See also our privacy policy.
