Privacy Policy

LEX ZED is a Zambian legal research platform operating from Lusaka, Zambia. For any privacy question, contact us at support@lexzed.app.

We collect only what the service needs to function:

• Account data — your email address and authentication credentials, held by our authentication provider. Passwords are stored as hashes and are never visible to us.
• Subscription and payment records — plan, status, period dates, and the reference and confirmation details of mobile money or bank payments you submit.
• Student verification documents — where you apply for the student rate, the student identification you upload. These are stored in private storage accessible only to administrators.
• Usage data — counts of cases viewed, AI opinions requested and study generations, used to apply free-trial limits and subscription entitlements.
• Content you submit — questions put to the AI assistant, documents you upload for analysis, saved items and workspace notes.
• Technical data — standard server and security logs, and cookies or local storage used to keep you signed in.

To provide and secure the service; to authenticate you; to apply free-trial limits and subscription entitlements; to verify student eligibility; to process and confirm payments; to respond to support requests; to detect abuse; and to comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell personal data. We do not use the content of your legal queries to identify you to third parties.

Questions you put to the AI assistant, and documents you submit for analysis, are transmitted to our AI provider in order to generate a response. Do not enter information you are not entitled to disclose. If you are a legal practitioner handling a client matter, anonymise identifying details before submitting them, in line with your professional confidentiality obligations.

We use cookies and browser storage that are necessary to keep you signed in and to remember preferences. We may also display advertising on parts of the public site through Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this or other websites, and you can opt out of personalised advertising through Google's Ads Settings. Advertising is not shown to users with an active paid subscription.

We share data only with the service providers that operate the platform: our hosting and database provider, our authentication provider, our AI provider, our payment channels, and advertising partners where ads are shown. Each processes data on our behalf or under its own published terms. We may also disclose data where required by Zambian law or a court order.

Account, subscription and payment records are retained for as long as your account is active and thereafter as required for accounting and legal purposes. Student verification documents are retained only as long as needed to verify eligibility for the relevant subscription period. You may ask us to delete content you have uploaded at any time.

Data is held in managed infrastructure with row-level access controls, so that records are readable only by the account that owns them or by an administrator where the function requires it. Uploaded verification documents are held in private storage. No system is perfectly secure, and we ask that you use a strong, unique password and keep it confidential.

You may request access to the personal data we hold about you, correction of inaccurate data, deletion of your account and associated content, or a copy of your data. Write to support@lexzed.app and we will respond within a reasonable period. Zambia's data protection legislation applies to our processing of personal data.

LEX ZED is intended for adults and for tertiary-level law students. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

We will update this page when our practices change and will revise the date at the top. Continued use of the service after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. See also our terms of service and legal disclaimer.
